Bio/Description

Michael Aizenman is the Thomas D. Jones Professor of Mathematical Physics at Princeton University. Prior to his tenure at Princeton, he held posts at New York University, Rutgers and has held short-term visiting positions at Caltech, the University of Paris, and Tel-Aviv University, among others. He received his Ph.D. from Yeshiva University in 1975. His fields of scholarship include mathematical physics, analysis, and probability and a special interest in disorder effects in classical and quantum physics. He is a Simons Fellow in Mathematics and also a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society (AMS). He has received numerous awards, including the recent Frontiers of Science Award in 2023 and the HenrÍ Poincare Prize from the International Association of Mathematical Physics in 2018.
