Laura Deevey is the Manager of Grants and Financial Operations. This includes the Budget and Grants Office as well as the Procurement and Logistics Office. With over 30 years of grants and budget experience, Laura prides herself in providing the best customer service to the faculty, researchers, graduate students, and staff.
In conjunction with Stephanie Rumphrey, Laura handles post-award activities for Andrei Bernevig, Jo Dunkley, Duncan Haldane, David Huse, Lyman Page, Jason Petta, Shivaji Sondhi, Suzanne Staggs and Sanfeng Wu. Laura also manages the department budget and other financial activities for the department.
The Budget and Grants Office handles pre and post-award responsibilities which include proposal submission and post-award monitoring for over $25 million of federal spending and $5 million in non-federal spending. The Procurement and Logistics Office handles the day-to-day purchasing and shipping for the department. This includes general and a metal stockrooms for convenient on the spot purchases for Physics, as well as other departments.
Laura started her career with the Physics Department in 2002 as the Assistant Grants Manager. She was then promoted to Budget and Grants Manager before moving into her current role. Prior to coming to Princeton, Laura worked 17 years for New York University in various grants positions. She completed two degrees from NYU while working full-time - a BS in Accounting and a MPA in Finance Management.
