He received his Ph.D. in physics from Stanford University and his bachelor’s from Tsinghua University, in Beijing, China. His main research interests include theoretical condensed matter physics, topological states of matter, two-dimensional systems, and strongly correlated systems. He has also worked on many other topics in physics, including nonequilibrium many-body quantum systems, quantum dynamics, quantum information, quantum entanglement, and thermalization. He has received several awards, such as the NSF Career Award in 2022, a Sloan Research Fellowship in 2021, and the Gold medal at the 39th International Physics Olympiad.
