Gravity Group Lunch Seminar, Max Abitbol | Oxford "Foregrounds of CMB B-modes and spectral distortions"

Fri, Mar 8, 2019, 12:00 pm

I will discuss topics related to foregrounds of two different CMB science cases. For the first part, I will introduce an expansion to foreground SED parameterizations in terms of moments of the parameter distributions. I will then discuss a power spectrum based foreground cleaning algorithm for the Simons Observatory B-mode analysis pipeline and how to incorporate the moment expansion in this algorithm. For the second part, I will present Fisher forecasts of the capability for future experiments to measure CMB spectral distortions in the presence of foregrounds. I will conclude by presenting how a futuristic spectral distortions mission could extract the local value of H_0 from the real time change of the CMB monopole temperature.

To sign up for lunch, please fill out this form by 4pm tomorrow (Wednesday).
