Alex Himmel-"Muon Neutrino and Antineutrino Oscillations at MINOS"
Tue, Dec 7, 2010, 3:00 pm4:00 pm
MINOS is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment with two detectors 734 km apart exposed to the Fermilab NuMI neutrino beam. By comparing the energy spectrum and beam composition at the two sites neutrino oscillations at L/E~500 km/GeV can be measured with precision. We present measurements of the atmospheric mass splitting and mixing…
Prof. Daniel M. Kaplan-"New Experiments with Antiprotons"
Tue, Oct 12, 2010, 3:00 pm4:00 pm
Fermilab operates the world's most intense antiproton source. Newly proposed experiments can use those antiprotons either parasitically during Tevatron Collider running or after the Tevatron Collider finishes in about 2011. For example, the annihilation of 8 GeV antiprotons might make the world's most intense source of tagged D^0 mesons, and thus…
