Abstract: String theory contains sources like orientifold planes that support higher derivative interactions. These interactions make possible static flux compactifications which are forbidden in supergravity. I will report on recent results from the Tokai-to-Kamioka (T2K) experiment, which aims to make high sensitivity and precise studies of neutrino oscillation using an intense off-axis muon neutrino beam produced by the Japan Proton Accelerator Complex (J-PARC) and directed towards the Super Kamiokande (SK) detector 295 km away.
